U.S. Troops Attacked — Retaliatory Air Strikes Underway

It didn’t take long for the United States to get drawn into the war between Israel and Hamas.

American bases in Iraq and Syria were repeatedly targeted by rocket and drone attacks over the past week.

At least 19 attacks on U.S. bases and personnel in Iraq and Syria have been carried out since October 17, with 21 Americans injured as a result.

In response, U.S. fighter jets retaliated with airstrikes on two locations in Syria both of which were linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The White House tried to say that the airstrikes were separate from Israel’s ongoing conflict with Hamas. However, it also acknowledged that Iran is responsible for funding, arming, equipping, and directing the proxy groups behind the attacks.

So if the Iran-backed Hamas attacked Israel, igniting this powder keg…

And now, other Iran-backed proxy groups are attacking U.S. personnel and assets…

Then someone in the Biden administration needs to explain how this all isn’t part of the same war.

Of course it is.

Why even try to pretend otherwise at this point?

Iran isn’t pretending.

On Thursday, Iran’s foreign minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, stood in front of the U.N. and explicitly threatened the United States with “fire.”

"I say frankly to the American statesmen, who are now managing the genocide in Palestine, that we do not welcome expansion of the war in the region. But if the genocide in Gaza continues, they will not be spared from this fire," he warned.

And why then was it necessary for Joe Biden to send a rare direct message to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei warning Iran not to target U.S. personnel?

"My warning to the ayatollah was that if they continue to move against those troops, we will respond, and he should be prepared,” Biden said.

But again, there’s no indication that his message was well received.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

Again, Iran was clear that by aiding Israel, the United States is a part of this war whether we like it or not.

"The United States cannot both send military equipment to the Israeli regime and take charge of managing the war with one hand, while issuing political messages with the other hand and speak about its opposition to the expansion of the war," a government insider said through Iran's state news agency IRNA.

So that’s where we’re at.

The Biden administration continues to insist that it doesn’t want this war to expand and yet it’s doing just that.

It’s a fact that’s plain to everyone and one that Iran is openly acknowledging.

And Israel hasn’t even launched its full ground invasion yet.

Its troops and tanks have been massed on the Gaza border for weeks now, but they’ve yet to storm the strip.

It’s only a matter of time before they do — making good on their pledge to annihilate Hamas once and for all.

When that happens, things will get worse not just for Palestinians and not just for Israelis, but for everyone, the U.S. included.

Time spent ignoring or denying that basic set of circumstances is time that would be better spent preparing for them.

That’s not just true for the Biden administration, either, but for investors too.

You need to be prepared for this conflict to escalate because it’s going to escalate.

It’s already happening and it’s going to get worse.
